Foreign drivers require a work permit costing AED 250 for 1 year and residence visa valid 3 years for skilled category as per Federal Decree-Law No. 29 of 2022 effective 2026. Additional fees include entry permit AED 200, medical test AED 370, Emirates ID AED 172 first year. Employer applies via MOHRE portal with approval in 2 working days.

Drivers must be aged 21-60 years, hold a valid category 3 driving license with minimum 2 years experience, no formal education required for light vehicle roles as per MOHRE guidelines. Heavy vehicle drivers need category 4 license and 3 years experience plus training certificate. Good conduct certificate mandatory.

Required documents: passport copy valid 6 months, 4 photos, attested driving license, medical report, employment contract via MOHRE. Employer submits online via MOHRE app or TAMM, pays AED 250 fee, gets approval in 48 hours then issues entry permit. Worker completes biometrics and residency stamping within 60 days.
