Job Description
The Team Lead serves as the on-shift lead for a team of Security Guards at assigned facilities in Ottawa. This is a working leadership role, you will carry out full guard duties while also providing day-to-day direction, mentorship, and operational oversight to your team. Lead Hands are key to maintaining service continuity, professional standards, and a consistent security presence across rotating 12-hour shifts including statutory holidays.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead shift operations and serve as the primary point of contact for on-duty guards
• Perform all Security Guard duties including patrol, access control, and incident response
• Apply Use of Force and arrest procedures in accordance with the Criminal Code when necessary
• Provide real-time guidance and support to guards during complex or escalating situations
• Monitor compliance with post orders, uniforms, and conduct standards
• Coordinate response to alarms, emergencies, and special events
• Communicate operational updates to Supervisors and relieve shift personnel appropriately
• Review and sign off on incident reports and shift logs
• Assist with onboarding and site orientation of new staff
• Ensure at least one bilingual (English/French) officer is on duty at all times
• Support screening operations at designated facilities using X-ray and metal detection equipment

Qualifications & Requirements
• Valid Ontario Security Guard licence (PSISA)
• Current Use of Force certification
• Minimum 2–3 years progressive security experience; prior lead or senior guard experience preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary in Police Foundations or Law & Security preferred
• Valid Standard First Aid + CPR-C + AED + Naloxone certification
• NVCI certification (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention)
• Ability to obtain a Police Records Check — Judicial Matters
• Ability to obtain Government of Canada Reliability Status clearance
• Bilingualism (English/French) strongly preferred
• AODA, Cultural Sensitivity, and Mental Health Awareness training
• Smart Serve certification (asset)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to complete detailed incident documentation
• Competency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and CCTV systems
• Demonstrated ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure
