As per the Office of the Chief Labour Commissioner, the minimum wage for motor vehicle drivers in Central Sphere Zone I is Rs. 1,200 per day effective January 2026. This amounts to Rs. 28,800 per month based on 24 working days. Overtime is payable at twice the ordinary rate for hours exceeding 8 per day.

Applicants must hold a Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) driving license and be at least 20 years old as per MoRTH rules updated in 2026. A medical fitness certificate valid for 1 year (or 3 years under 50) is mandatory. No prior experience is legally required for license issuance but 2 years recommended for jobs.
