Position: Assistant General Manager (AGM) Procurement & Strategic Sourcing

Job Summary The Assistant General Manager Procurement & Strategic Sourcing will be responsible for leading the end-to-end procurement function for raw materials, packaging consumables, capital machinery, engineering spares, and outsourced technical materials required for the Plastic Packaging / Polyfab / Woven Sack manufacturing business.

The incumbent will drive strategic sourcing initiatives, supplier partnerships, cost optimization, material planning, import procurement, inventory rationalization, and supply continuity to support uninterrupted production and business profitability.

This role requires strong commercial acumen, techno-commercial negotiation capability, deep understanding of polymer markets, and leadership in procurement transformation.

Key Result Areas (KRAs) / Responsibilities
• Strategic Procurement & Category Management
• Develop and execute procurement strategies for key categories including:
• Polypropylene (PP)
• HDPE / LDPE / LLDPE
• Masterbatches & Additives
• Woven / Non-Woven Fabric Rolls
• Packaging Consumables
• Engineering Spares & Utilities
• Capital Machinery & Project Procurement
• Establish annual sourcing plans aligned with production forecasts and budgetary targets.
• Track domestic and international polymer market trends, resin price movements, freight fluctuations, and vendor pricing intelligence.
• Identify opportunities for long-term rate contracts and bulk procurement savings.

Raw Material Sourcing & Cost Optimization
• Ensure uninterrupted sourcing of all polymers, chemicals, fillers, and additives at the most competitive commercial terms.
• Lead price negotiations with petrochemical companies, traders, importers, and authorized distributors.
• Drive procurement cost reduction through:
• Alternate vendor development
• Import substitution
• Reprocessed/recyclable material optimization
• Value engineering initiatives
• Freight and logistics rationalization
• Benchmark procurement prices against prevailing market indices.

Vendor Development & Supplier Relationship Management
• Identify, evaluate, qualify, and onboard new vendors for:
• Polyfab raw materials
• Woven sack consumables
• Machinery components
• Technical service contracts
• Conduct supplier capability audits covering:
• Quality systems
• Financial stability
• Delivery performance
• Capacity adequacy
• Commercial competitiveness
• Build strategic supplier alliances to ensure long-term business continuity.
• Implement structured vendor rating and supplier performance review mechanisms.

Capital Equipment & Project Procurement
• Manage techno-commercial procurement of capital machinery such as:
• Tape Plants / Extruders
• Circular Looms
• Lamination Machines
• Rotogravure / Flexographic Printing Machines
• Bag Conversion Lines
• Recycling Lines
• Utility Equipment
• Coordinate with Engineering and Projects team for:
• Technical comparison
• Commercial negotiation
• Purchase finalization
• Delivery monitoring
• Installation coordination
• Commissioning support
• Handle procurement of critical machine spares and annual maintenance contracts.

Material Requirement Planning (MRP) & Operational Procurement
• Coordinate closely with Production Planning, Stores, and SCM teams for monthly and quarterly procurement planning.
• Convert production plans into material procurement schedules.
• Ensure timely release of purchase orders and follow-up for dispatches.
• Monitor supplier lead times and proactively prevent production stoppages due to material shortages.
• Establish reorder levels, safety stock norms, and procurement buffers.

Import Procurement & Commercial Compliance
• Manage imports of polymers, machinery, and critical compone
