As per the Ministry of Labour, the minimum wage for unskilled Omani workers including cleaning staff is OMR 325 per month as set by Royal Decree 35/2021, effective through 2026. This applies to private sector roles without requiring higher qualifications. Employers must also provide end-of-service benefits at 15 days' salary per year for the first three years.
Q What work visa do foreigners need for cleaning staff jobs in Oman?
Foreign workers require a work residence visa sponsored by an employer, issued by the Royal Oman Police after Ministry of Labour approval, valid for 2 years and renewable up to 10 years maximum. The employer covers fees of OMR 20 application plus OMR 10 per month labour fee as of 2026. Minimum age is 21 and maximum 60 for unskilled roles like cleaning.
Q What are the eligibility criteria for cleaning staff jobs in Oman without experience?
No formal education or prior experience is required for entry-level cleaning staff positions for Omanis aged 18 and above, per Ministry of Labour guidelines. For expatriates, a clean criminal record and basic health fitness certificate are mandatory. Omanisation quotas may prioritise nationals in commercial cleaning roles.
Q What documents are needed to apply for cleaning staff jobs via Oman's job portal?
