Welder positions in Sohar

As per the Ministry of Labour, welders classified under Category III skilled workers earn a minimum basic salary of 520 OMR per month as of January 2026. This includes housing allowance up to 100 OMR and transport allowance of 50 OMR. Overtime is paid at 125% of the hourly rate for the first 4 hours and 150% thereafter.

Foreign welders require a Category D work residence permit sponsored by an Omani employer, valid for 2 years and renewable via the Royal Oman Police. The employer must first obtain MOL approval showing no suitable Omani candidate exists. Processing takes 10-15 working days after document submission.

Welders need a vocational diploma or certificate in welding from a recognized institute plus at least 3 years of relevant experience as per MOL guidelines effective 2026. Omani nationals require 2 years experience with completion of Grade 10. International certifications like AWS must be attested by the issuing authority.

Required documents include a valid passport copy, attested educational certificates, experience letters, medical fitness certificate, and police clearance, submitted by the employer to MOL e-services portal. Applications must be filed within 30 days of job offer acceptance. Approval leads to visa stamping at ROP within 7 days.
