Foreigners require a work visa sponsored by an Omani employer, approved by the Ministry of Labour, with a minimum salary of OMR 400 for skilled roles like chefs as of 2026. The process involves employer application via MOL portal, medical fitness test, and ROP visa stamping within 2 months. Visa validity is 2 years, renewable.

Applicants need at least a high school diploma and 3 years of relevant experience for Omani nationals, or a diploma plus 2 years for expatriates in supervisor roles per MOL guidelines effective 2026. Basic food safety certification is mandatory. No university degree required unless specified by employer.

Required documents include passport copy, educational certificates attested by Indian Embassy and MOFA Oman, experience letters, police clearance, and medical report for expatriates, submitted via employer's MOL Tamkeen portal.
