Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about Restaurant Jobs in Qatar

Q What is the minimum wage for restaurant workers in Qatar?
As per the Ministry of Labour, the minimum wage for migrant workers in the private sector, including restaurant jobs, is QAR 1,000 per month effective from 1 March 2021 and unchanged as of 2026. Employers must provide free accommodation and three meals daily or equivalent allowance. Overtime pay is 125% of the basic hourly wage for hours exceeding 8 per day.
Q What work visa requirements apply for foreign restaurant job applicants in Qatar?
Foreign workers require a work residence permit (RP) sponsored by the employer, applied for via the Ministry of Labour portal after medical fitness test and job contract approval. The RP is valid for 1 to 5 years based on contract length, renewable before expiry. Applicants must enter on a free visa issued within 2 weeks of employer request.
Q What eligibility criteria are needed for entry-level restaurant jobs like waiter in Qatar?
No formal education is required for unskilled restaurant positions such as waiter under Labour Law No. 14 of 2004; a high school certificate suffices for semi-skilled roles. At least 1 year of relevant experience is typically needed for approval under occupational wage structures. All applicants must pass a medical examination confirming fitness for work.
Q What documents are required for work permit application in restaurant jobs in Qatar?
Required documents include a valid passport (minimum 6 months validity), 4 passport photos, attested academic certificates if applicable, and a medical fitness report from an approved clinic. The employer submits these via the MOL unified portal within 1 week of job offer. Approval takes 3-5 working days if complete.
