Location: Polokwane Smelter

Reporting Level: C2 level reporting to the Engineering Foreman

Job Responsibilities
• Achievement of safe production performance levels through effective maintenance of equipment.
• Attend and conduct safety meetings.
• Conduct and participate in risk assessments.
• Allocate tasks to subordinates.
• Attend to breakdowns and emergencies as required.
• Ensure that materials, spares, and equipment are available as required.
• Ensure proper and adequate on‑job training and coaching is provided to subordinates.
• Comply with environmental requirements.
• Exercise judgment with regards to replacement of components.
• Maintain a high quality of work.
• Provide timely and accurate information.
• Record results of all legal examinations in the appropriate format.
• Work in a sequence that prioritizes work requirements.
• Complete job cards and descriptions of work and spares used (PM’s).
• Perform work to the required standards and specifications.
• Apply appropriate tools to complete tasks.

Good Employee Relations
• Ensuring effective teamwork.
• Identify potential conflict situations and minimize implications.
• Ensure subordinates have clear work expectations and plans.
• Conduct on‑job induction.
• Support, coach, and participate in training and development of subordinates and apprentices.
• Maintain effective two‑way open communication with subordinates and line supervisor.
• Report risky behavior, incidents, and injuries.
• Interact with other departments.
• Advising on defects and abnormalities to appropriate supervisor or manager.
• Recommend employees suitable for career development.

Qualifications
• Grade 12 and Technical Trade Specific N2.
• Electrician Trade Certificate.

Knowledge and Skills
• English literate (speak, read, and write).
• Must be able to work standby and overtime.
• Must be familiar with risk assessment procedures.
• Valid driving license code 08.
• Basic computer skills.
