A dynamic opportunity is available for a motivated and hands-on Junior Electrical Technician to join an innovative R&D environment. This role is ideal for a junior candidate who is passionate about electronics, prototyping, testing, and practical engineering support within a fast-paced technical laboratory setting.

The successful candidate will support Electrical Engineers with the assembly, wiring, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical hardware, prototypes, test jigs, and laboratory equipment while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Assist Electrical Engineers with the assembly, wiring, configuration, and prototyping of electrical hardware and test setups
• Construct, wire, and modify test jigs, fixtures, harnesses, and prototype assemblies according to technical specifications and schematics
• Perform soldering, crimping, cable assembly, component installation, and related hands-on technical tasks
• Operate hand and power tools including drill machines, angle grinders, and related workshop equipment
• Conduct routine testing, troubleshooting, fault-finding, modifications, and re-testing of electrical components and assemblies under engineering supervision
• Support the maintenance, calibration, and repair of laboratory tools, test benches, and equipment
• Prepare and organise components, materials, inventory, workstations, and equipment for engineering projects and testing activities
• Maintain accurate documentation including wiring diagrams, test records, build logs, and procedures
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, ESD procedures, and proper handling of tools, chemicals, and hazardous materials
• Assist with general laboratory housekeeping, workstation organisation, and equipment setup/teardown
• Collaborate effectively with engineers and cross-functional R&D teams
• Contribute to a professional, quality-focused, and innovative work environment

Minimum Requirements
• N4 or N5 qualification in Electrical / Electronic Engineering (Light Current) or similar
• 0 – 2 years’ experience in a laboratory, workshop, apprentice, or technical support environment
• Basic understanding of electronics principles and electrical systems
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications
• Experience with soldering, crimping, cable assembly, and basic mechanical assembly
• Familiarity with test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies
• Understanding of ESD protection procedures and safe lab practices
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn

Advantageous Requirements
• N6 Certificate in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or progress toward a National Diploma
• Exposure to ECAD software packages
• Basic firmware or software knowledge including C, C#, or embedded systems
