Job Description

Dis-Chem Pharmacies in Jeffrey's Bay is seeking a Security Guard to provide security services, protecting assets, property, and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment. This involves identifying signs of criminal activities, investigating disturbances, and adhering to relevant legislation and best practices.
Minimum Requirements:
• Grade 12 – Matric or a Senior Certificate
• Grade C accreditation with the PSIRA
• 3 years in the retail industry (shopping malls and warehouses)
Advantageous:
• 1 year specific previous experience in a similar role

Job Specification:
• Be vigilant and alert to identify suspicious activities.
• Conduct random patrols of the premises.
• Monitor and control access to the premises.
• Investigate and report signs of damage or unlawful entry.
• Be visible to discourage criminal activities.
• Be courteous and friendly to guests, customers, and employees.
• Control access by searching staff, suppliers, and merchandisers.
• Maintain registers and occurrence books.
• Supervise and check refuse removal.
• Protect the property and assets of the business.
• Be present at your post at all times.
• Practice good customer service.
• Report any unusual or suspicious behavior.
• Ensure doors and windows are locked.
• Ensure water taps are turned off.
• Conduct personnel frisking and vehicle searches.
• Report suspicious incidents to management.
• Contact policing and emergency authorities when needed.
• Monitor alarm systems and video cameras.
• Provide assistance to emergency teams.
• Maintain order during evacuation procedures.
• Offer on-going security advice and safety warnings.
