Job Description
Introduction

Schmidhauser Group is seeking a qualified and experienced COC Compliance Plumber to join our Plumbing Division. The successful candidate will be responsible for plumbing installations, inspections, repairs, and alterations, ensuring full compliance with South African plumbing regulations. The role includes issuing Plumbing Certificates of Compliance (COCs) and maintaining the highest standards of workmanship, safety, and professionalism.

Duties & Responsibilities
• Perform plumbing installations, maintenance, repairs, and alterations on residential, commercial, and industrial sites
• Inspect new and existing plumbing systems to ensure compliance with relevant standards and bylaws
• Issue Plumbing Certificates of Compliance (COCs) in accordance with applicable regulations
• Identify non-compliant installations and recommend corrective actions
• Ensure all work complies with SANS 10252, SANS 10254, and relevant municipal bylaws
• Maintain accurate records, job cards, compliance reports, and documentation
• Liaise professionally with clients, site managers, and internal teams
• Uphold Schmidhauser Group’s standards for quality, safety, and customer service
• Work independently and manage time effectively while meeting deadlines
• Ensure tools, vehicles, and equipment are used safely and responsibly

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Requirements
• Qualified Trade-Tested Plumber (Red Seal preferred)
• Valid PIRB registration (Licensed Plumber or higher)
• Registered with the City of Cape Town as a plumbing contractor
• Proven experience issuing Plumbing Certificates of Compliance (COCs)
• Strong knowledge of South African plumbing standards and compliance requirements
• Valid driver’s licence
• Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and customer service abilities

Advantageous Skills & Experience
• Solar geyser and heat pump installations
• Drainage and high-pressure systems
• Commercial and industrial plumbing experience
• Compliance inspection or auditing experience
