The Plumbing Assistant supports the maintenance team by assisting with plumbing repairs, installations, and preventative maintenance across accommodation properties, ensuring plumbing systems remain safe, functional, and compliant with company standards.

Responsibilities:
Plumbing Support & Maintenance
Assist plumbers with the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems including water supply, drainage, sanitation, and waste systems
Support repairs to leaks, burst pipes, blocked drains, toilets, taps, geysers, and valves
Assist with basic plumbing installations such as sinks, toilets, basins, showers, and fittings
Prepare tools, materials, and equipment prior to maintenance or repair work
Carry, load, unload, and maintain plumbing tools and materials
Preventative Maintenance
Assist with routine inspections of plumbing systems to identify faults or potential risks
Report defects, leaks, and system failures to the supervising plumber or maintenance supervisor
Support preventative maintenance schedules to minimise breakdowns and service disruptions
Site & Property Support
Respond to plumbing-related maintenance requests across multiple accommodation sites
Ensure work areas are kept clean, safe, and tidy during and after tasks
Assist with room inspections before tenant move-ins and after move-outs where plumbing checks are required
Liaise with site staff and tenants professionally when attending to plumbing-related issues
Health, Safety & Compliance
Comply with occupational health and safety regulations at all times
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
Ensure safe handling of tools, equipment, and materials
Adhere to company policies, procedures, and quality standards
Administration & Reporting
Assist in recording completed tasks and outstanding work
Report progress, delays, or material requirements to the supervising plumber or maintenance supervisor
Support stock control by reporting low or damaged tools and materials

Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
Grade 10–12 (Matric advantageous)
Plumbing-related short courses or exposure will be advantageous
Experience
Previous experience assisting a plumber or working in a maintenance role preferred
Exposure to residential, hospitality, or accommodation environments is advantageous
