As per the Delhi Labour Department notification dated 1 April 2026, the minimum wage for a skilled welder in the National Industrial Classification code 7212 is ₹21,500 per month for Zone I. This includes a basic rate of ₹16,200 plus variable dearness allowance of ₹5,300. Unskilled welders earn ₹19,200 per month under the same schedule.

To be eligible for welder jobs under NCVT, candidates must have passed 8th standard and completed a 1-year ITI course in Welder (Gas & Electric) trade. Fresher apprenticeships require no prior experience but registration on the Apprenticeship Portal. Certification is issued after passing All India Trade Test as of 2026 guidelines.

Register on the NCS portal with Aadhaar-linked mobile, upload ITI Welder certificate, and 10th marksheet, then search for 'Welder' under skill code GWO/Q0102. Submit applications directly to employers listed, with profile approval taking 24-48 hours. Government welder vacancies under DGE are applied via https://ncvtmis.gov.in/ with NCVT registration number.

Under the Factories Act 1948 as amended in 2026, welders work 48 hours per week with overtime pay at twice the ordinary rate beyond 9 hours/day. Annual leave is 1 day for every 20 days worked, up to 15 days, plus 12 casual/sick leave days. Weekly off is Sunday with paid holidays on Republic Day, Independence Day, and Gandhi Jayanti.
